Back in 1995,
I bought an Apple Newton MessagePad 100 as I was still in the development field, and that my goal was to develop some applications on it. Since the beginning I’ve always been fond of PDAs and small devices as I’ve started learning programming on a Casio PB80 a long time ago, and then never ceased buying new handhelds for fun and programming. Until now, I’ve programmed on several Casio devices (Basic), HP48 (RPN and Saturn assembler), Atari Portfolio (C and 8088 assembler), Psion 3 then 5 (OPL), and now PocketPC 2002 (eMbedded visual C)…
My adventures with the MessagePad 100 were interesting. At that time, I also had some knowledge on Mac programming as I had bought Spectre GCR – a Mac emulator – on my Atari Mega ST and had started looking around with ResEdit and the inner workings of System7 by reading the Inside Macintosh books. I didn’t spend too much time coding for the Mac, but I liked the concept and that was the reason I felt motivated with programming the Newton, which was a really cool and futurist device at that time.

Disassembling programs is a really tedious task, but sometimes it’s artistic. Thanks to IDA Pro’s graph view, I am sometimes amazed by the inner beauty of some programs.
I couldn’t resist to take some screen captures of a program I was studying tonight… Although the graph output is somehow attractive and candy eye, a single look at the graphs throughout the dissassembly tells you that the programmer of this piece of software is a bit messy… My favourite picture is the one above, you can click on it to zoom… It represents a fullscreen snapshot displaying IDA in action, as I am trying to figure out how I will be able to understand such a scrambled function ! What a mess… probably nearly as complicated as the obscure financial hedge funds products that led to the actual crisis.
Please enjoy those artistic graphs, extracted from the same program

Houps !

Let’s say it simply. I’m not doing any adversing of any sort, but I have to admit that my new earphones are simply great ! Last week while in London, I had the opportunity to test the On-Ear foldable Bose earphones and I was simply astonished. Never before I had such good sound (*). So I just bought a pair which makes me enjoy music even more.
